Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a process of lightening and brightening the discoloured teeth so they will look bright, clean and healthy. As the first impressions are more important than ever so the smile can make all the difference. A healthy-looking Smile can make a person feel more confident, self-assured, and successful.

There are two types of Teeth whitening methods used in German Dental & Neuromuscular which are the In-Office Zoom Teeth Whitening and the Home Kit Bleaching. It is always recommended to do a single in-office zoom whitening then to do touch ups using the home teeth whitening kit usually once a year.

With Zoom teeth whitening, thousands of people worldwide have transformed their smiles by brightening their natural teeth color.

The Zoom Teeth Whitening Procedure Steps:

Zoom Teeth Whitening Advantages

Aftercare

To keep your teeth bright after your treatment, avoid food causing stain-causing food, soft drinks, coffee, tea and smoking for several days after your treatment. Regular brushing and flossing will be helpful to remove the plaque and the stain.

Home Teeth Whitening

Our dentists at German Dental & Neuromuscular Clinic recommend to do a single in-office Zoom Whitening then to do touch ups using the home teeth whitening kit usually once a year.

The home teeth whitening kit includes customized trays and a whitening gel. The dentist will provide you with the customized mouth trays after getting an impression or a digital scan of your teeth, usually it takes one or two days after impression for the trays to be ready. You need to visit your dentist so you can try the trays and make sure that they fit, then you will be ready for your home Teeth Whitening experience.

At home, you need to brush your teeth prior the treatment, put the bleaching gel into each impression of your trays, place the trays over your teeth then you need to take out the trays when the prescribed time for your formulation is up, brush your teeth and enjoy your white teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why should the teeth be cleaned before whitening?

With time, food particles and other debris accumulate around your teeth and gums. This is what we see as yellow or brownish discoloration on the outer and inner sides of teeth. If we perform teeth whitening over uncleaned teeth, its effects will not be as successful as they would be on cleaned teeth.

Do home teeth whitening and in-office whitening differ?

You get better results with a professional whitening treatment as the dentists are using higher concentration of the bleaching chemicals than the ones given in an over-the-counter kit. Our dentists at German Dental & Neuromuscular Clinic advise the patients to do the in-office teeth whitening by the professional in the clinic then to do touch-up using home kit every 6 months or 1 year.

Can I avoid staining my teeth after I whiten them?

You should try to avoid consuming foods and drinks that discolour teeth, in order to maintain the results of whitening. The frequent whitening of your teeth may cause them to become brittle and blue, so use an antiseptic mouthwash regularly and floss them as well.. Stop smoking, as the longer you smoke, the more ingrained the stains become. If you can’t think of enough reasons to quit, consider your smile!

How often should I repeat the teeth whitening treatment?

A person may choose to repeat teeth whitening treatment after a year or more. It varies a lot from person-to-person. If you consume foods and drinks that stain your teeth, then you are likely to feel the need for a touch-up or another whitening quite soon, but we recommend to have the touch ups not too often and keep it not more than once a year.

Can whitening damage my fillings and crowns?

Whitening does not damage fillings, bridges or crowns. One thing that you should remember is that the whitening process does not modify the colour of these restorations. So if these are affecting your appearance, you may need to speak with your dentist about matching their colour to your whitened teeth.

What can you do to make your teeth whitening last longer?

Apart from regular brushing and flossing, you should avoid certain foods and drinks that can stain the teeth such as tea, coffee, and sugary foods with artificial colours. Quitting smoking is also advisable as the tar and nicotine in cigarettes are sworn enemies of pearly white teeth. In addition to this, visit your dentist regularly for whitening touch-ups as this can keep your teeth looking white for a long time.

Can a crown be used for missing teeth?

Dental crowns are a great option for replacing one or more lost teeth, especially when combined with dental implants. Dental crowns were traditionally used to replace single damaged teeth or dental bridges to replace multiple missing teeth. However more modern crown options are now available.
