Dr. Joana Coelho is a Family Medicine Physician with over 14 years of clinical experience across the Portuguese National Health Service and private practice in both Portugal and Dubai.
Her work is currently focused on Functional Neuromodulation, a non-invasive approach that targets the nervous system to restore physiological balance and optimize body function. She has extensive experience applying these techniques across a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, postural dysfunction, sports performance and injury recovery, dizziness and balance disorders, gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, anxiety and stress-related conditions, fibromyalgia, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), urinary incontinence, dysmenorrhea, chronic cough, brain fog, and fatigue.
Dr. Coelho combines her background in Pain Medicine and Medical Acupuncture with advanced neuromodulation techniques, allowing for a highly personalized, integrative approach to patient care. Her focus extends beyond symptom management, aiming to address underlying dysfunctions and support long-term recovery and resilience.
She is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Program in Advanced Neuromodulation at Faculdade Focus, Brazil, reflecting her commitment to ongoing innovation and excellence in this evolving field.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Coelho has contributed to smoking cessation programs and telemedicine services, and she serves as a board member of the Portuguese Medical Association College of Competence in Medical Acupuncture.
